The End of a Four-Year Marriage and the Quest for Joint Custody

MIAMI — In a surprising turn of events, Joe Jonas, the 34-year-old member of the popular band Jonas Brothers, has filed for divorce from Sophie Turner, the 27-year-old beloved star of "Game of Thrones" and the "X-Men" franchise. The couple ended their union of four years and two children in Florida's Miami-Dade County Court.

According to the divorce documents, Jonas cited irreparable damage to their marriage as the reason for the split. The couple exchanged vows in a secretive ceremony at a Las Vegas wedding chapel on May 1, 2019, shortly after the Billboard Music Awards. Memorable performances by country duo Dan + Shay added magic to their special day.

In 2020, Turner and Jonas welcomed their first child, daughter Willa, into the world. Last year, they celebrated the arrival of another daughter; however, the couple has chosen to keep her name private.

In the divorce filing, Jonas is seeking joint custody of their daughters. He expressed confidence in the enforcement of their prenuptial agreement, revealing his expectation that it will come into effect.

The representatives for Jonas and Turner have not yet responded to requests for comments regarding this unexpected development.

The couple's love story began in 2016 when they started communicating through Instagram direct messages. Introduced by mutual friends, they eventually met in person in October of that year and exclusively began dating by December. Their engagement was announced in October 2017.

Born in Arizona, Joe Jonas rose to prominence as a member of the iconic band Jonas Brothers, which he formed with his brothers Nick and Kevin in 2005. They achieved immense success with their music and starred in multiple Disney Channel series. Recently, they released their sixth studio album and are currently on a tour, performing at various U.S. stadiums.

Sophie Turner, originally from Northampton, England, gained widespread recognition for portraying Sansa Stark in HBO's epic series "Game of Thrones." She also showcased her talents as Jean Grey in the "X-Men" films including "Apocalypse" in 2016 and "Dark Phoenix" in 2019.
