The Donald Trump campaign announced on Wednesday that it had raised an impressive $45.5 million in the third quarter of this year. This fundraising haul far surpasses that of Ron DeSantis, once considered Trump's fiercest rival.

By the end of September, the Trump campaign reported having over $37.5 million in cash on hand. The campaign's success was bolstered by fundraising efforts related to Trump's legal challenges.

In contrast, DeSantis' team revealed that they had raised $15 million during the same quarter, a decline from their impressive $20 million fundraising total in the second quarter.

By releasing these fundraising figures shortly after DeSantis' news, the Trump campaign aimed to demonstrate their dominance over the Florida governor. DeSantis has struggled to fulfill the high expectations of Republicans who viewed him as a viable alternative to Trump.

Despite facing four indictments issued by prosecutors in New York, Washington, D.C., Georgia, and Florida, Trump's fundraising momentum remains unwavering. In fact, his campaign revealed that they made $3 million by selling merchandise featuring his Atlanta mug shot, where he faces state racketeering charges.

It is worth mentioning that the reported fundraising numbers for both Trump and DeSantis only cover the period from July to September and do not include funds raised by their associated super political action committees.

Trump's formidable and growing fundraising figures will undoubtedly help him maintain his leading position in the GOP field. Meanwhile, his competitors face mounting pressure to improve their standing and remain viable as the primary season approaches. The series of caucuses commences with the Iowa caucuses scheduled for January.
