The U.K. stocks closed on a positive note on Friday, with the FTSE 100 Index UKX rising by 0.64% to reach 7,624.93.

Top Gainers

Among the constituents of the FTSE 100, clothing retail company JD Sports Fashion PLC saw the highest increase, as its shares climbed by 3.76%. Following closely behind were precious metals firm Fresnillo PLC and non-ferrous metals company Antofagasta PLC, with their shares increasing by 3.05% and 3.02% respectively.

Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC, an aerospace products/parts company, and technical services firm Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC also saw significant gains, as their stocks increased by 2.69% and 2.63% respectively.

Top Losers

In contrast, Burberry Group PLC experienced the largest decrease among the FTSE 100 constituents, with its shares declining by 5.51% on Friday. Passenger airlines firm International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. and investment advisors company Hargreaves Lansdown PLC also faced losses, with their shares dropping by 2.86% and 1.61% respectively.

Completing the list of top five largest decreases were publishing company Informa PLC and food retail company Ocado Group PLC, as their stocks fell by 1.44% and 1.39% respectively.

Currency and Commodity Overview

The pound exhibited a minor decline of 0.13% against the dollar, reaching $1.2746, and a slight decrease of 0.03% against the euro, settling at €1.1628.

Brent crude experienced a positive climb of 1.4%, reaching $78.48, while the yield on the 10-year gilt declined by 4.280 basis points to 3.799%.
